Thank you Grand Rapids, apologies for programming mix up

To my fans in Grand Rapids –

Thank you for coming to see me at the Grand Rapids Comicon this past weekend. I had a great time and really enjoyed your city, which turns out to be a little gem and maybe the best kept secret in the state.

Unfortunately, there was a programming glitch that caused me to have to change a scheduled panel from Sunday to Friday. I hadn’t been informed of the panel until Friday afternoon, when I was told that it was to take place Sunday at 3PM. The problem was that at that time I was supposed to be packing my gear to catch a shuttle for the airport, so the convention kindly changed my  panel to Friday at 3PM.

That might not have been a problem, except that it was too late to change the printed program and someone forgot to post a sign noting the change – AND – nobody bothered to tell the guy on the PA loudspeaker, because at 2:45 on Sunday afternoon I heard the announcement that I would be speaking at 3PM. I sent one of the convention handlers to let folks know what happened and awhile later one of the convention ladies came to me in a bit of a panic, saying that there were fifty people waiting for me in the ballroom. I told her I’d go and explain the situation and talk to the fans for the 15 or 20 minutes I could spare before my shuttle left, but by the time we hustled back to the ballroom, the first handler I had sent had already arrived and told folks I was a no show.

So… if you were there waiting for me to show up, I apologize for the waste of your time. It wasn’t my fault, honest. I hope you’ll give me another chance somewhere down the road.

Bestest,
Mike
